PREMIER LEAGUE WEEK 5 TALKING POINTS;

LIVERPOOL UNDERLINE TITLE STATUS,

MANCITY TEARING AWAY AT THE TOP,

LEICESTER GIVING RESPONSE,

ARSENAL GET ACT TOGETHER,

WESTHAM FLOUNDERING.

The Premier league action returned this weekend after the commencement of the Uefa Champions League in mid week. We were treated to plenty of action as always as Liverpool travelled down to London to halt Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season, while Mancity added Bournemouth’s scalp to their growing list of casualties this term and  Leicester came back with a commanding win over Burnley at home. Arsenal were victors over 10 man Hull, while Manchester United recorded their third straight loss in the past week and second in the Premeier league as they were dispatched 3-1 at Vicarage Road.

What were we exposed to this week and what can we

pick?

LIVERPOOL UNDERLINE TITLE STATUS

On their day, the best description is ruthless. The  reds have begun their first full campaign under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp with such brilliance and command that only points in one direction. Yes, there is a niggling 2-0 loss at Burnley in between but Liverpool are out for something special, especially when those little issues are sorted out. The Merseyside outfit has faced the toughest start having already come into contact with champions Leicester, Tottenham, Arsenal and lately Chelsea but have not been fazed, kicking off with a 4-3 win at the Emirates and then, Leicester have been pummeled 4-1 , a draw at Tottenham and then a 2-1 win over Chelsea and in dominant fashion. The Reds dominated the host in the first have and punished the blues lethargy as Dejan Lovren drilled home from a freekick  to capitalize on poor organization from the blues, while captain, Jordan Henderson, plagued by injuries last term, added an  unstoppable effort that sailed into the top corner.

It is largely expected that the title race is difficult. We know what league we are talking about. However, the whole buzz at the moment is all about Pep at City and
Mourinho at Manchester United. Liverpool are however
throwing themselves in the picture. They have
impressed from such a start but would need consistency as their 2-0 loss at Burnley suggests.
They have a very lethal and pacy attack and the
midfield is versatile and full of energy. They would
cause massive damage on their day.

MANCITY TEARING AWAY AT THE TOP

Pep Guardiola could not have asked for a much better
start to life in England as his 100% record continues.
The Citizens threw mercy out of the window as they
duly disciplined Bournemouth with a 4-0 drubbing at
the Etihad on Saturday. It was even more impressive
as they replicated the midweek score in the
Champions league without Sergio Aguero’s hatrick as he continues his ban. Kevin Debryne , Kelechi
Iheanacho, Sterling and Gundogan all did the job in
another impressive rendition. Everyone is looking at
them and they have to be big favourites as the title
race is in its infancy. Pep has revolutionized the
Citizens and they only threaten to be more ruthless,
rampant and dominant. City and Pep are adjusting
just fine.

ARSENAL FINALLY GET ACT TOGETHER

The Premier league seemed to have arrived too early for the gunners but they showed their class with a
typical display as they dispatched Hull , 4-1 at the
KCOM Stadium on Saturday. Having just escaped
from France with a point in the Champions league ,
Wenger was out for his team to put their title
challenge in motion and he got such a response with
a dominant display. Alexis Sanchez got a brace and
missed a penalty while Theo Walcott got one and
Granit Xhaka got the fourth and his first for the
gunners with a blinder. The gunners produced a top
performance that would boost them going forward.
Wenger continued with Sanchez up front and they
look to be settling in as Wenger takes one last shot at
the title.

LEICESTER GIVING RESPONSE

The Foxes have been brought back down to earth by
their not too good start to their title defence. They
were on the wrong end of a 4-1 drubbing at Anfield
last week but received the perfect boost with a
comfortable 3-0 win in their maiden Champions league
match away at Brugge and carried on with a
commanding win of the same scoreline over Burnley
on Saturday, with new recruit, Islam Slimani recording
a well taken brace at the King Power Stadium. Claudio
Ranieri has continued to stress calm and the
champions were dominant on Saturday. Of course,
everyone knows how hard it will be for them but they
are ready to challenge and continue to improve.

WESTHAM FLOUNDERING

It is difficult to imagine and understand what has come upon the Hammers of recent. Last season was a
very blissful one by their standards but their start here
has been shocking. The East londonders threw away a
two goal lead at home to Watford to lose 4-2  last
week and despite having over 70% of the ball at the
Hawthorns, they went down with the same scorlineand even needing to battle from 4-0. The Hammers have now lost their last three matches and sit in the relegation mire. They can claim to be very unlucky at Westbrom but they were painfully ludicrous
defensively and quite wasteful up front. They need to
get sorted as soon as possible.

Maresca’s Chelsea Conquer the World: BlueCo’s Project Comes Alive

Football365 A Glorious Night in New Jersey Chelsea Football Club once again stood atop the footballing world, lifting the FIFA Club World Cup after a stunning 3–0 victory over PSG in a packed MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It was a game that heralded joy, redemption, and vindication for the BlueCo project and, indeed, Enzo Maresca. Cole Palmer's decisive double and calm assist capped off a composed team performance that proved too difficult for PSG on a hot day. From Champions of Europe to Chaos Chelsea’s path to this trophy was far from easy. Qualifying through their 2021 UEFA Champions League triumph over Manchester City in Porto, the Blues had since undergone a complete transformation. Ownership changed hands, a host of new players were brought in, and five head coaches came and went. The soul of the club seemed lost as a young, victorious squad was dismantled to build an entirely new one. Under Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea had just conquered Europe and looked poised for domestic domi...

Ruben Amorim's First Match: Welcome to Reality

The Bubsy Babe The first match of the Ruben Amorim era played out before a fully packed Portman Road on Sunday evening. There was palpable excitement for both sides as Ipswich Town hosted Manchester United in the Premier League for the first time in 22 years. The Tractor Boys, who are again mixing it with the big boys, came into this match off the back of a 2-1 win at Tottenham last time out. Manchester United were up for their first match under newly appointed head coach Ruben Amorim. Curiosity about the lineup was rife, and fans were keen to see the workings of the famed three-at-the-back system that Amorim has been renowned for. In the end, a 1-1 draw was quite a disappointment for the Red Devils, despite the saves Andre Onana made to secure a point at the newly promoted Ipswich. The first 81 seconds of the game were electric, as United came off the blocks and Rashford finished a crafted move with Amad Diallo at its center. Amorim did not jump dramatically for joy, instead adopting ...
